A little bit about me…

Even before I began my career in the museum world, I always had enthusiasm for learning. It started in my childhood, visiting living history museums such as Conner Prairie and Greenfield Village. In college, I had the opportunity to interview veterans and civilians in wartime for the Library of Congress’s Veterans History Project, developing an accompanying exhibit for a local historical society museum. The stories were so compelling! I wanted to share those kinds of stories with others and dreamed of doing that kind of work for the rest of my life.

Fast forward a few years. I found myself with the unique opportunity to work for a cutting-edge multimedia company that made films and interactive exhibits for museums. What are the odds? My adventures then led me to work as the exhibit developer for a museum that combined science, history, and culture. My experiences since then have led to a fulfilling career focused on storytelling and visitor engagement.

As a museum consultant, exhibit developer, media producer, and project manager, I have successfully created museum exhibits and multimedia programs for institutions across North America, such as The Bakken Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, and the George W. Bush Presidential Museum. Having worked inside and outside museums, I understand the different perspectives of project stakeholders. I advocate the visitor experience. By focusing on storytelling, I collaborate with partners to create compelling and engaging exhibits and multimedia experiences that not only inform, but also inspire.

Outside of my museum and consulting work, I love to explore and travel (43 countries and counting!). Since childhood, my life has been filled with music. I own fifteen instruments but only play four of them with any proficiency. I’ve played in various swing, jazz, and community bands over the years. From my home base in Milwaukee, I play trombone with the Medical College of Wisconsin Orchestra, MCWO Jazz Orchestra, and Tosa Jazz Band.
